On this beautiful sunny weekend, we were obligated to go to Dewan Tok Tangok at PPD Bachok for this programme.

The tentative said 8.30 am so I arrived 15 minutes before. As usual, the crowd slowly gathered and the event started at 9.15 am.

Hopefully, we shared and gained a lot from this event.

Still in the English Month, we took the opportunity to held a singing song competition. 

One despicable fact about the contestants who wrote their name in the list voluntarily is their noncommittal attitude towards the promise made to ensure the success of the programme. Some of them, right before the competition was held, resorted to withdraw from the competition altogether. Such a shameful and selfish attitude have to stop or they'll never learn breaking a promise is frowned upon, even worse than singing out of tune or booed by the audience.

They need to learn having the bravery to stand up and sing is better than running away from golden opportunity that only presents itself in the form of an outlet to show what they have to others.

We still have a long way to go. Whatever it is, us, English teachers of SMK Kandis would continue to organize such events even when the contestants themselves tried to sabotage the competition.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Public Speaking Competition_190214

In conjunction with the English Month, we held Public Speaking Competition today.

The students from 4 Science were ready but their seniors from 5 Cemerlang were not. They were laughing and being playful. Some just buried their nose in the book because they did not memorize their script, which was clearly way too short. 

As the teacher who teach them, I'm very disappointed.

Today, we had an activity for English Month. The activity was handled by Miss Koo Siu Lee and supported by Madam Hajah Zaini Abdullah. Moi, was the whiteboard writer...hehehe

Our Head of English Panel, Madam Haslina Che Din as well as Madam Hjh Norlina Yunus and Madam Wan Nurul Arifah Wan Nor also gave their never ending support to ensure the success of the activity.

All winners who came out to write the words on the whiteboard were given presents. Kudos to all!

To keep in track with the policy of MBMMBI, SMK Kandis has launched the Language Month to nurture the use of both Malay and English in school.

The event started with prayers, then the speech from Madam Principal. After that, poem recital for both Malay and English. Later, Madam Soo Ah Khem from PPD Bachok. Soon, the choir for boys performed the English version of InsyaAllah by Maher Zain while the choir for girls presented The Day You Went Away.

Overall, it went well and hopefully the month that follows will be fulfilled with activities set to make the kids enjoy learning Malay and English. I just wish the students would be more supportive when their counterparts were presenting and gave them support instead of jeering them when they slipped and made mistakes. After all, we get wiser by learning from our mistakes.

Rehearsal for Launching of English Month_130214

This Sunday, English Month will be launched so today we had a rehearsal for poem recital, song singing and storytelling.

Word Derivation Exercise_5C_120214

Tried a new exercise in class today during recess. The outcome: HAVOC!

At first, it was freestyle. The board was filled quickly with words. And the class was heating up with the screams of students who were eager to try this exercise.

Then, I restricted the writing of words by categorizing the word into the number of alphabets available. The 1-5 words categories were quickly filled up. But the 6-10 words categories were slowly piling up.

Overall, the best relief class experience I've ever been into!

The event supposed to start at 3.30 p.m. but was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. 

The weather was scorching hot but that didnt5 deter the students' spirit to complete their run.

 

 

Bengkel Pengukuhan iTHINK_090214

We held an iTHINK course last year and this year, we did another course that serves as a reinforcement course to refresh the knowledge gained through experience and classroom teaching and learning process.

Hopefully, this course served its purpose!
