Desription of a Famous Person_5C_200213

The first group, Syahira, Farhana, Fatin Rosmalyana and Azliza. They talked about Yours Truly..heheh..guess I'm famous in school.
Next, Farhanim, Fairuz and Shafika presented a piece on a Korean Artist called Jessica who is a member of Girls Generation. Their Flow Map was interesting and colourful.
Then, Atikah, Adila and Aqila presented about Akio Morita who founded Sony Corporation. Their voices were too soft and they were not facing the audience.
Later, Naani, Shahidah, Ezura and Eliya presented about Bill Gates. They were a shy group but their presentation was informative. I'm guessing this is a result of copying the essay from a reference book.
Lastly, Nasyaruddin, Hamiz Haqim, Azizol and Rosul presented on a footballer named Nemar Da Silva. They were unprepared and presented without mahjung paper or other visual aid.
Overall, it was a disappointment because after almost a year of presentations (I taught them in form four and we did A LOT of presentations), they were still dilly-dallying when presenting. I wish they came up strong and confident instead of being unprofessional and acting like a first timer in presenting group discussion.

Pertandingan Anugerah Tokoh NILAM Peringkat PPD Bachok Tahun 2013_190213

Today, SMK Kandis was selected for Anugerah Tokoh NILAM which is currently being held at Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Bachok.

The competition is held in search for Tokoh NILAM Daerah Bachok which will then represent the district for Tokoh NILAM Negeri and later for Tokoh NILAM Kebangsaan.

It is held for Form 4&5 students for both Bahasa Melayu and English. SMK Kandis is represented by Nur Syahira Bt Sudin from 5C for English and Nurma Bt Jusoh from 5S for Bahasa Melayu. As for Form 4, Nor Fatrunnada Bt Mat Nasir from 4C took part for Bahasa Melayu while for English, Faizah Bt Ramli from 4S tried her luck.

Hopefully, these girls will bring a good news for SMK Kandis!

Golden Holiday_100213

Today, for Form Five Science, Cemerlang and Kualiti had to attend Golden Holiday at the Dewan Makan Asrama. The task was to read the chapters from the Form Five Novel and fill up the Flow Map. Each group had three members and they had to present their Flow Map and indirectly, retold the story that happened in each chapter.

The task was fun and interesting as students worked in groups. And they were allowed to use any revision book that they had and of course, the dictionary. The Flow Map also helped a lot as it made their ideas organized and easier to comprehend. Overall, it was worth an hour drive from my home to the school!

Kursus iThink 20-22 Januari 2013_Hari Kedua

So, it was decided today that the iThink course should be shorten to 2 days. Hence, today we've learned 5 iThink maps, namely Tree Map, Brace Map, Flow Map, Multi-Flow Map and last but not least, Bridge Map.

Since all teachers of SMK Kandis are fast-learners, we've managed to wrap up the course successfully. Although few teachers couldn't make it due to school aid of RM100 given at their respective children's school. One of our facilitators also couldn't make it as Sir Rahmat got meetings to attend to.

Kursus iThink 20-22 Januari 2013_Hari Pertama

In conjunction with the enforcement of the iThink programme to 500 primary and secondary schools, SMK Kandis which is the only pioneer secondary school in the district of Bachok, will be holding a three day course to impart the information and knowledge gained by five Jurulatih Utama, who are Pn Haslina Che Din, Miss Koo Siu Lee, Sir Rahmat Ibrahim, Pn Azitawati and you're truly, Miss Norbahira Mohamad Nor.

The first day went on smoothly as teachers didn't notice the time went by as they were engrossed with the group work and co-operative sharing sessions.

For today, only three iThink maps were introduced to teachers; circle map, bubble map and double bubble map.

Overall, the first day went by unnoticed and hopefully the same will happen throughout the rest of the course. It is hope that teachers will share the knowledge with the students in the near future.

Kursus Peningkatan Professionalisme Guru Kali-1 2013

On Saturday, January 19th, a course on Latihan Dalam Perguruan has been conducted at SMK Kandis.. The course was started by SMK Faris Petra's principal, Tn Hj Shafie B. Awang... He talked about class management. He was charismatic albeit the explanation given was more on the subject of Mathematic, since he has been teaching Additional Mathematics for more than 30 years.

The next slot was on Jadual Spesifikasi Ujian by Hj Ab Shafie, a lecturer from Institut Pendidikan Guru-Kampus Kota Bharu. He explained about the concept and how to implement JSU in exams.

Overall, it was worth missing my MA class.

HIMPUNAN GURU-GURU MUDA ZON TIMUR GM1M_081112

Today an assembly of young teachers (below 40 years old) from Pahang, Terenganu and Kelantan was held at SMK Padang Enggang in Kota Bharu.

It was held to bring together young teachers who will bring about transformation and guide the youth of Malaysia in achieving vision 2020, aligned with the new Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia.

I think I was the earliest teacher to arrive there from PPDB at a quarter to 7 this morning. Even the registration counter was not opened yet.

 Had a calm breakfast before the show starts...

Teachers who went there were encouraged to like the GM1M page on Facebook (which I did) to ensure they received up to date information concerning the teaching profession specifically and education world generally.

At about 10 a.m., the show started with the arrival of Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the main camp. As usual, the singing of the National Anthem kicked off the event, followed by "Ikrar GM1M".

Among the audience present, as usual female teachers dominated the attendance!

After the speech by Dato' Pa (as he is fondly known to Kelantanese, especially those in Jeli, TPM gave his speech where he talked about the importance of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), which I am the Jurulatih Utama Kebangsaan for the programme called iTHink to inculcate HOTS in school. He also talked about English, which is crucial for school leavers and graduates who would like to compete in the working world. Both issues are directly related to me and boy, I have huge responsibilities to uphold!
